How is TSE different from TENS?

Traditional low frequency TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) is a useful treatment for many types of pain but its effectiveness may be limited and tends to diminish with time. The key advantage of TENS is that the relatively low output power means that devices can be very inexpensive to purchase. TSE has a much higher output power but a very high frequency which means that it cause only minimal sensation. It has the advantage that it is more effective for treatment of long-term chronic pains, its effectiveness may increase with regular use and it works with more types of pain. In particular it works well for pains that result from nerve damage or compression of the nerves whereas the strong tingling sensation with TENS can aggravate these conditions.
