One user's story...
George Brown, 67

George Brown, 67, a retired engineer, was seriously injured in the work place 47 years ago, and ever since has been in almost constant pain.

"As I got older the problems became worse until I was virtually housebound. I have been to pain clinics, had nerve blocks, etc etc" All to no avail.

In the middle of 2004, George decided to try Acticare TSE.

"I thought why not give this a try, I had nothing to loose. I found that after about a week of using the device I was able to do things without thinking that were a real struggle before. Unbelievably, my life has virtually returned to normal, whereas before I was housebound, today I am out and about etc."

Sciatica is the name given to any sort of pain that is caused by irritation or compression of the sciatic nerve. It is a condition suffered by many people and can be excruciatingly painful and intractable.

The sciatic nerve is the longest nerve in your body. It runs from the back of your pelvis, through your buttocks, and all the way down both legs, ending at your feet.  Anything that compresses or irritates the sciatic nerve can cause a pain that radiates out from your lower back, and travels down your leg to your calf.

Sciatica can have a number of causes, such as a herniated (slipped) disc. This occurs when one of the discs that support the vertebra gets temporarily pushed out of position and presses on your sciatic nerve.  But in many cases of sciatica, there is no obvious cause.

If you find that you have this kind of pain you should consult your doctor. A typical treatment could be a course of anti-inflammatory drugs (reducing inflammation around the sciatic nerve and consequently relieving the pressure on it). Physiotherapy can be used to manipulate the spine or build muscle up. Surgery is also an option for chronic sciatica.

However, while the condition is being treated one often needs complementary therapy to manage the pain. One option is Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) which works for some people but in others the associated tingling sensation tends to aggravate rather then help the situation. This is often a problem with TENS used on pains where the origin is the nerves themselves rather than peripheral injury. A better alternative is Transcutaneous Spinal Electroanalgesia (TSE) which uses shorter pulses that cause less tingling, but act directly on the point of impingement, on the nerves in the spinal cord, reducing the sensation of pain at source.

TSE works by blocking the pain signal from reaching the brain by preventing it from traveling up the spinal cord. As a direct consequence of the spinal delivery of TSE it works as effectively for multiple painful areas as it does for localized pain. TSE has no known side affects (and so can be used as often as required) and does not involve any surgery. You simply place two pads on your back (one at the back of the neck and one in the middle of your back on your spine) and switch it on.

Trying TSE

If you have been in pain for a number of years you will know that no treatment, drug or device works for everybody and every condition. Therefore we believe that it is important to offer you the opportunity to try the therapy in your home to see for yourself if it helps for you, without financial risk. In the event that you find that TSE is not appropriate for any reason, you may return the device within 28 days of receipt for a full unconditional refund. To try Acticare TSE now, click here.
